Farmers Productivity Edge (FPE) is a Social Enterprise entity registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Sierra Leone. Founded in early 2024, the FPE (CIC) SL is a unique local sustainable farmer development outfit for a great reason: the social and economic empowerment of the rural farmer.
Our programmes are focussed on sustainable agriculture for food production, supporting agri-financing of rural farmers to scale farming portfolios, engagement in agricultural produce trade and export promotion to improve farmer disposable income, and developing schemes for poverty alleviation in our bid to promote rural economic empowerment. We enable rural farming communities to access alternative financing to upgrade and expand farming portfolios, provision of improved agricultural technology services and expertise to promote sustainable practices in farming, and to ensure farming becomes profitable to the extent of increasing overall farmer disposable incomes.
We transform life-changing ideas and experiences into community-changing philosophies, through using innovative ideas to address tough farmer development challenges in deprived rural environments. To grow these ideas and experiences through innovation, we connect and network with partners and other stakeholders in order to effectively reach more people with our community interest projects.
We groom our staff internally and connect to networks of local experts to carry out and adapt innovations from one community to another. Our team reflects a diversity of technical expertise and lived experiences, because solving complex empowerment challenges in (poverty, food insecurity, nutritional resilience, etc.) requires both. We find our best fit in this mode of operation.
As a Community Interest Company, we are committed to connecting to – global, local, human and technological ideas, and adapting between experts, projects, and communities to allow development and empowerment to efficiently flow in the communities we operate. We use organic farming practices, renewable and other green energy capabilities to support and match our goals of sustainable farming practices in programme portfolios to support local communities and to achieve the milestones within government’s national development frameworks. This is how we match the speed and scale of humanity’s most pressing challenges in the rural and sur-urban communities.
Every action we take is driven by a conviction that true service means, tomorrow’s work must be better than today’s. So, when others say it cannot be done, we always ask, when we can start with heightened curiosity, interest in new ideas, and listening to other experts as we navigate through more intractable problems of society in a more determined posture, and taking risk in ensuring affordable, accessible, nutritional food components are available for the growing population of our time.
